STOP! Small business owner! Consider web design before you spend $$$$$
All you business owners who are thinking of spending hundreds of dollars for web site design and maintenance. Did you know that the HTML code used to build web sites is in the midst of a revolution! It is well worth your time to investigate before you pay to have a web site custom built to suit your needs. The designer you are about to pay atleast several hundred dollars! Does he or she use standards compliant XHTML 1.0? If not, you had better look elsewhere.
Anyone with a very basic knowledge for HTML can whip up a satisfactory website in a few hours. I have spent four months and $400 worth in text books from the local community college and online stores. I still have more to learn, but I was very appalled to see that the amazing program purchased for $400 still depends greatly on the soon to be deprecated HTML tags. Dreamweaver decreases time spent switching from browser to notepad when building web sites. It allows for easy use of Cascadeing Style Sheets. However, I think it is extremeley over-rated and the programmers have many areas to improve and update.
In the near future web standards are to become more fine-tuned and basic HTML tags will be deprecated. Even major browsers will no longer support the tags that are a product of lazy designers who use dreamweavers WYSIWYG design view. Consider who you allow the privilege of publishing your online business card!!! |
