Beware of search engine Spam methods
A Whole New World
I have recently started building small business web sites. This has been a thrilling journey, for someone who paid little mind to the techno world in the past. I am amazed at how far technology has come even in the last 10 years.
Web Standards
Every spare moment of mine is spent memorizing subjects about CSS and SEO.I have found that my new profession will require that I keep myself currant with all web standards. Among the most important for success, is search engine optimization.
SEO
A number of key factors come into play when gaining approval from the search engine spiders. First of all, the search engine spiders are computerized (and the information used for their algorithms are under lock & key anyways), but there are a number a fantastic books wrote by very successful search engine professionals. Secondly, one should be aware of the changes in the last few years. Search engines have developed the ability to penalize web sites that are found to have used methods of spam to gain search engine rank. Methods that were widely used in the past included, link farms, computer generated content, computer generated hits, to name a few. Not only can web sites now be penalized for using these spam methods, but a web site may also be banned from the search engine for a specific period of time. I would want to warn anyone who begins a SEO campaign. Before hiring a SEO consultor, consider educating yourself first. It will be well worth you time & money. |
